Vercelloni

Virgilio Vercelloni (Milan 1930 - Bollate 1995) was an eclectic and animated personality with a profound intellectual curiosity, who moved between architectonics and town planning, landscape architecture and the history of architecture and urbanisation.

After graduating in architecture at the Politecnico di Milano in 1956, he became assistant to Carlo Perogalli and Piero Bottoni, and subsequently a lecturer in History of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano between 1963 and 1972. He was a researcher for the television programme “Non solo film” (Rai Tre, 1991-1994) and author of numerous essays and publications, including the Atlante storico di Milano, città di Lombardia, La storia del paesaggio urbano di Milano, Atlante storico dell’idea del giardino europeo and the Atlante storico dell’idea europea della città ideale. Of his architectural work, the municipal building in Rozzano, the sports centres of Lacchiarella and Pero, and the civic centre in Bollate were of special note.
